Male Boudoir, also known as Dudeoir.

Over the years, the human body has been represented in different ways. Regardless of whether they are women or men, different artists have captured the greatness and beauty of human beings.

The term boudoir has been used primarily for female intimate photography. Today the term dudeoir has been generated to identify male intimate photography or male sexy photography. We will talk about this in the following lines.

Human Body in Art History

Artists from all times have had the human body as a favorite subject. Greek sculptors portrayed figures of human beings. Including both, classical sculpture through Hellenistic sculpture, and representing both male and female bodies.

Probably the most iconic sculpture that you might have in mind is a 5.17-meter (17 ft 0 in) marble statue of one Biblical figure: Michelangelo’s David.

David statue by MichelangeloAlso, Leonardo Da Vinci used the figure of a man to draw one of his most widely recognized drawings: The Vitruvian Man.

Capturing the image of the male body on an artistic canvas has been a tradition over time.

It is OK to say to yourself that you love your body.

During our lives we have been bombarded with advertising images of men in suits or casual sportswear, this image being the representation of how a man should be portrayed.

Fortunately, today, both men and women can make use of boudoir photography. Indeed, this style is more linked to women in lingerie, but more and more men decide to also have a photographic studio that shows their sensual side.

You might be wondering if the way you see your body is the way others see it. Do not worry! You can have several reasons to be thinking in a dudeoir photoshoot. It can be for your partner’s eyes only or for your social networks. The main idea is to enjoy your session and to be proud of your body, whatever your configuration.

How to pose in a Dudeoir Photoshoot?

Well, there is a huge difference between women’s poses and men’s poses. Anyway, masculinity is not confined to something special.

The first thing that you have to keep in mind is to be yourself. Discuss with your photographer during the initial consult, the style you have in mind. Are you looking for implied nudes? or Do you want to look flirty? It doesn’t matter, as long as you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

When we see men posing, we usually see a lot of muscles. If you have that body type, you probably already have some options in mind. If you’re not the type of guy who has a ripped body, the good news is that you can also have some great, sexy photos.

I am going to list some suggestions so that you can create in your imagination the photo that is right for you.

Suggestions for your Dudeoir Photoshoot.

1. In what kind of activity are you? Do you play softball? Are you a construction worker? Do you work in an office? Use some attire in your Dudedoir session that represents you. This will make you feel comfortable because is part of your personality. Of course, the way you are wearing these articles in your photo shoot is going to be way different from how you wear them in society.

2. Take some pictures with your cell phone or ask a friend to help you to take them. The idea is not to have exceptional pictures but to find out how you feel better with your body. Do you prefer some details? Maybe front-full-body? What about lying down? Again, this is to have some idea. Once you have it, then you can discuss with your photographer, your options.

3. It is important to pay attention to your tan lines. Depending on what kind of pictures you want to have, tan lines may be a distraction (or sometimes they can be the focus of attention too). Be careful with the way you get a tan. Some products make you look orange and don’t look like a true tan.

4. Your hair and hands are also an important issue. Talking about your hair, you do not need to lose your personality trying a new haircut. Just get a fresh haircut or pay attention to the way it looks. It is your face’s frame. If you feel like it, get a manicure. There is a great possibility that your hands will appear in the foreground in some photographs.

5. One of the advantages of being in Puerto Vallarta, or any other beach, is that you can have a session wearing a speedo in some exotic area. Give this idea a try. If you decide to select me as your photographer, I can offer you several options to do your outdoor session.

6. As I wrote in my blog: “How to prepare for an outstanding boudoir photoshoot”, I want to recommend you to stretch your body every day for, at least, one week before your session. Some poses require some strength for a few seconds and it is much better to have a little beat of flexibility to avoid any kind of cramp.

7. Last but not least, do not forget to drink plenty of water. Your skin will reflect that and people will notice it in your photos.

Male Boudoir is about feeling sexy.

Do not sink into expectations about your photo session. The idea is to feel sexy in front of the camera. If this will be your first photo shoot, I recommend having a chat with your photographer to let them know your ideas or fears.

After all, you are going to decide who will enjoy your portfolio with you. These photos can be very sexy or something more conservative yet sensual. Your imagination is the limit and, if you find a photographer that is willing to achieve what you have in mind, I am sure you will enjoy the process and the final product.

If you have already decided to make your boudoir for men, do not wait any longer and contact me to talk about what you want to achieve.

It will be a real pleasure to evaluate and capture what you have in mind.
