How to prepare for an outstanding boudoir photoshoot.
During your life, you have had to anticipate different events: Job interviews, celebrations, holidays, etc. Here, we are going to give you some tips for you to know how to prepare for an outstanding boudoir photoshoot.
A boudoir session is almost like a regular photoshoot.
When we have a regular photo shoot, we use to go through a checklist to keep everything running smoothly.
This checklist includes clothes, hair & makeup, accessories, what to eat or drink before the big day, etc. We will see this a little further. The main concept here is that you should be aware of how important preparation is for your boudoir photo shoot.
But, Where is located the tiny line? I like to say that the big difference is within your conscience. The main difference between a boudoir session and a regular photo shoot is the amount of skin you will dare to show to the camera.
The above can be a bit problematic for some people, but if you really like yourself, it shouldn’t be a problem.
What do we have to check before the session?
To get ready for a boudoir photoshoot session, we have to follow some steps to achieve your goal. Let us talk about it:
-
-
-
- The first thing is to talk with your potential professional photographer. It is very important for you to feel the chemistry that will make you feel comfortable during your session.
- Also very important is to picture in your mind how much you want to show up. It is very helpful to wear your lingerie and check out in front of a mirror if you feel truly comfortable. Are there some areas that you would like to attenuate? Would you like to do some changes to your hair? Maybe you would like to read about some tips for female poses.
- Once you determine who is going to be the photographer and with some images in your mind (or in your phone’s gallery), make sure to have a reunion with the professional to go over the following steps.
- Do you want an outdoor photoshoot? Do you prefer to do it at some special place?
- What about your clothes? Is it the right color? You can consult with your photographer to see if your selection is going to end in an excellent picture.
- The same happens with your hair, fingernail color and lipstick. Tell her or him what your favorite colors are, and with which one you feel comfortable and bold.
- Once you both are in the same channel, it is time to look forward and start your own preparation.

What do you have to do to prepare for your boudoir photoshoot?
There are some things that your photographer can have in total control. Some other things are in your hands for your boudoir photoshoot.
Let’s go through some points that are worth knowing:
-
-
-
- Your hair. If you have decided to change your color, it is best if you do a test before the actual photoshoot. It has to be a color that you feel comfortable with and one that you will love to look back on. The secret here is that you have to love your hair! It doesn’t matter how long or short it is. If you love your hair, then that will show in pictures. Be sure to specify if you are using your photographer stylist or your saloon. They need to know how much time to dedicate to your hair on the day of your session.
- Fingernail color. It is always about you feeling comfortable but, I have to say that neutral colors are best in this case. Your hands and feet are going to be visible in pictures and, strong colors tend to distract from your natural beauty.
- Check the bottom of your feet. We do not know if we are going to have a picture from that angle, so it is best to have a professional pedicure. Just in case.
- Tan lines. If you have tan lines in your body that you would like to disappear, it is much better to stick to tanning methods that you are familiar with. We do not want you to have any redness or burning.
- Your lingerie. It is better if you start thinking about your boudoir outfit from the very first moment you decide to have your photoshoot. You will have time to go shopping and see how do you feel with your new lingerie. You can buy something a little beat out of your comfort zone and see if that’s a good idea for your session. Try to narrow your selection to 5 to 10 pieces for now. Later on, you can decide on your 3 to 5 favorites.
- Also, it is very important to stretch your body every day. Some poses require a little tension on your back or your legs. You do not want a cramp in that sexy position or, sore muscles after your session.

Great! The day is here!
You may be nervous about your boudoir photoshoot. If you follow the previous indications, there is no reason for things to go wrong in your boudoir photoshoot.
Let’s see what to do the day before and on your great day:
-
-
-
- Your hair. If you are using our professional stylist, it is much better to arrive with your hair clean, fully dry, and with no products on it. If you decide to use your favorite saloon, try to avoid applying a lot of product to your hair as it may look greasy in the photos. Keep in mind that we do not do Photoshop on hair, so it is very important that you feel great with it.
- The day before your boudoir session, remove all tags in your outfit, and I mean all of them. You do not want any tag showing up in your pictures.
- Also, the day before, avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water. This will help to keep your skin hydrated. You will feel great and that will show in your pictures.
- On the session day, moisturize your entire body. Do not wear any kind of tight undergarments or clothes. You do not want strange marks on your skin.
- On the morning of your session, make sure to shave all the areas that need it. If you wax, do it at least 3 days before your session.
- Transport each set of lingerie on its hanger. This will keep them wrinkle-free.
